Bloom Where You Stand
Being Different in a World That’s the Same
Have you ever wondered what those tulips are reaching for? That light we can’t see? It’s more than a quest for sunlight—it’s a journey towards hope, a testament to our unique path in life. Join me in discovering how being different is our truest form of brilliance.
About The Visual Intervention
Received the Visual Intervention in 2011 – Durham, North Carolina.
Have you ever paused in a busy hallway, closed your eyes, and just listened? Listened to the rush of footsteps, the blend of chatter – a whole world bustling by? In those moments, do you feel a hint of something more, something beyond the noise?
That’s a bit like looking at a picture of tulips reaching for light that we can’t see. Ever wonder what they’re stretching towards? It’s like they know there’s something out there, something more than just the dark space around them. Isn’t that a bit like us? We’re all kind of like those tulips, trying to find our own light, our own path in a sometimes grey world.
Think about it. When was the last time you reached for something you couldn’t see, but you just knew was there? Was it a dream? A feeling? A hope? Like those flowers, we’re drawn to something bright and beautiful, something that feels right even if we can’t put our finger on it.
But here’s the real talk: those tulips stand out because they’re different from the darkness behind them. They don’t blend in – they shine. Isn’t there something cool about that? Being your own kind of different? Not just doing things because everyone else is, but finding your own way, your own light.
Sure, it’s not always easy. Sometimes it feels like you’re the only one who sees things differently, like you’re speaking a language no one else gets. Ever felt that way? Maybe you’ve asked yourself, “Why don’t I just do things the easy way?” But deep down, you know that’s not you. You’re more than just another face in the crowd. You’re unique, and that’s something special.
The world is full of people who tell you to do this, be that, follow the path well-traveled. But let me ask you: what good is a path if it doesn’t lead you where you want to go? You gotta find your own path, make your own map. And yeah, that’s as tough as it sounds. It’s full of bumps, unexpected turns, and sometimes you walk it alone. But you know what? Walking it is worth it.
You see, when you strike out on your own, you learn a lot – about the world, sure, but mostly about yourself. What you’re made of. What matters to you. It’s not just about finding your light; it’s about being the light. Being that hope and that spark for yourself and maybe for others, too.
So, here’s a little piece of advice from one tulip to another: keep reaching. When the world gets loud, find your quiet. When everything’s moving fast, it’s okay to slow down. Take that deep breath. And when the path gets dark, remember those tulips. Even in shades of gray, they glow. You can too.
In the end, it’s all about being true to you. It’s not just about surviving; it’s about thriving, even if you’re thriving in your own, unique way. It’s tough, yeah. But you’re tougher. And when you finally break through and find your light? Well, that’s when the whole picture changes.
So, tell me, what’s your light? And how will you reach for it today?
